Dose of Nature host Wellbeing Workshop with Achieving for Children
Wellbeing workshop for organisation supporting young people leaving care
On 4th June, we ran another successful wellbeing workshop at our beautiful base in Pensford Field. We hosted 33 employees of Achieving for Children, a non-profit social enterprise who provide children's services on behalf of the Borough of Richmond and the Borough of Kingston. The individuals joining us were part of the Leaving Care Transition’s Team and support 14-25 year olds leaving care into living independently.
The workshop combined scientific learning about the mental health benefits of spending more time in nature, with practical outdoor nature-based activities, such as creating this beautiful Mandala (pictured).
The workshop was for the team members' own wellbeing, as a team who support young people with complex and often traumatic backgrounds. We hope that they were inspired to engage with nature for their own wellbeing, as well as to share what they learnt with the young people and families they support. We also hope to generate referrals for our Young People's Programme, for young people aged 16-25.
The group were engaging, lively and fun, and we hope everyone left feeling relaxed and happy, and inspired to make greater connections with the natural world to improve their mental health and wellbeing, and encourage others to do the same!
