Counselling and Psychology Placements

Each year we accept approximately 2-3 counselling placement students at the start of each academic year (October onwards), and 2 – 4 counselling and clinical psychology doctoral placement students throughout the academic year, depending on course and placement needs. At our hub in Kew, we offer specialist placements for Surrey University clinical psychology doctoral students seeking experience with young people aged 16 – 25.

Throughout your placement, you will gain experience supporting people to connect with the natural world to improve wellbeing, reduce anxiety, manage emotions and build resilience. Our therapeutic approach is integrative, and combines elements of nature therapy as well as more traditional therapies including person centred, CBT, CFT, ACT and psychodynamic therapies. Most of our work is conducted outdoors in nature.

All placement students are required to attend our initial training programme, which generally takes place in September and March, so make sure to apply early.

If you're interested, complete the Placement Application form and email it to the relevant hub (Kew or Guildford) along with a copy of your CV. The team will review all applications and arrange interviews in a timely manner.
