We recently welcomed our newest cohort of volunteer Nature Guides to our Dapdune Wharf hub in Guildford. After two days of outdoor training, exploring the connections between nature, wellbeing and community, they're ready to begin supporting people on their Dose of Nature journeys. We're delighted to have them join our growing community.

Last week, we were delighted to welcome our newest cohort of volunteer Nature Guides at Dapdune Wharf in Guildford.
After two inspiring days of training, this wonderful group is now ready to begin their Dose of Nature journey and support others to connect with nature for better mental health and wellbeing.
As always, our training takes place outdoors. Armed with blankets, hot water bottles and plenty of warm drinks, we embraced the autumn weather together. We were especially grateful for the sunshine that appeared during the afternoons, reminding us of one of the many simple gifts nature offers at this time of year.
Over the two days, we explored the heart of the Dose of Nature approach: how spending time in nature, building meaningful connections and fostering a sense of community can support wellbeing. Together, we shared ideas, reflected on the science behind nature connection, practised mindful activities outdoors and discussed what it means to support people on their individual journeys towards better mental health. Our training covers everything from understanding the benefits of nature and mindful walking to listening skills, boundaries, safeguarding and the role of a Dose of Nature Guide.

One of our favourite parts of every training programme is seeing the unique experiences, interests and perspectives that each new volunteer brings. While everyone arrives with different backgrounds and reasons for volunteering, they share a common belief in the power of nature and human connection.
Our volunteer Nature Guides are at the heart of what we do. They walk alongside people who have been referred to Dose of Nature, offering encouragement, support and companionship as individuals build a stronger relationship with the natural world. Their warmth, commitment and generosity make a lasting difference to the people we work with.
We're incredibly excited to see what this new group will bring to our growing community. We know they will help create welcoming spaces where people feel supported, connected and empowered to take positive steps for their wellbeing.
A huge welcome to all our new Guildford Nature Guides. We're so pleased to have you with us, and we can't wait to see where this journey takes you.
Could you become a Nature Guide?
Our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do, helping people discover the benefits of spending time in nature for their mental health and wellbeing. If like to make a difference in your local community, we'd love to hear from you.
