Why Nature Heals: Dr Georgina Gould On The Mood Booster Podcast

We were delighted to hear our Clinical Lead, Dr Georgina Gould, featured on a recent episode of The Mood Booster Podcast, where she spoke about the science behind nature and mental wellbeing and why nature heals.

In the episode, Georgina joins hosts Charlie and Dr Marcus to explore a question at the heart of our work: why does spending time in nature make us feel better?

Together, they unpack the growing body of evidence showing how nature can support mental health and wellbeing, and discuss why it should be considered an essential part of a healthy life.

The conversation covers some of the fascinating "active ingredients" of nature, including sunlight, fractal patterns found in the natural world, beneficial soil bacteria, and phytoncides, the compounds released by trees. Georgina also shares insights into the science behind forest bathing and the importance of connection, community and access to green spaces, particularly in busy urban environments.

At Dose of Nature, we see every day how meaningful time in nature can help people experiencing anxiety, depression and other mental health challenges. Through our clinically led Nature Prescription programmes, we support people to reconnect with nature in ways that are both accessible and evidence-based.

We're grateful to The Mood Booster team for inviting Georgina to share her expertise and helping bring the conversation about nature and mental health to a wider audience.

As awareness grows of the relationship between nature and wellbeing, we hope more people will discover the simple but powerful benefits that nature can offer.
