42nd Street Practitioners Trained to Deliver Nature Prescriptions

Following the launch of our Chimo-funded community partnership model, we are delighted to share that the team at 42nd Street Manchester has completed their Dose of Nature training.

In August 2026, our team travelled to Manchester to visit 42nd Street's vibrant city-centre hub and deliver training to six of their mental health practitioners. Over the course of the training, practitioners explored how our evidence-based nature prescription model can provide an alternative and complementary approach to supporting young people's mental health.

For more than 40 years, 42nd Street has been supporting young people across Greater Manchester through a wide range of established mental health and wellbeing programmes. Their experienced team of qualified practitioners works alongside young people facing challenges including anxiety, depression, trauma, and emotional distress. By integrating nature-based approaches into their existing practice, they are expanding the range of support available to the young people they work with.

The training combined psychoeducation on the growing evidence base behind the mental health benefits of spending time in nature with a series of hands-on experiential activities. Practitioners had the opportunity to directly explore many of the techniques used in our 8-week Nature Prescription programme, gaining a deeper understanding of how nature connection can support emotional regulation, resilience, and wellbeing.

Our Young Persons Membership Model is designed to equip organisations that are already making a significant difference in the lives of children and young people. By providing training, resources, and ongoing support, we can work together to make nature-based mental health interventions accessible to more young people who need them.

We are excited to see how the team at 42nd Street incorporates nature prescriptions into their work and look forward to hearing about the impact this approach has on the young people they support.

Growing the Reach of Nature Prescriptions

Training organisations such as 42nd Street is a key part of our mission to ensure more young people can benefit from the healing power of nature. Through partnerships with trusted youth organisations, we can extend the reach of evidence-based nature interventions into communities across the country.

As we continue to develop and expand this model, we are grateful to the Chimo Trust for helping make these partnerships possible.
