Connecting with Nature at Marble Hill House

We were delighted to join a recent mindfulness and nature connection workshop at the beautiful Marble Hill House gardens in Richmond, hosted by English Heritage.

We were delighted to join a recent mindfulness and nature connection workshop at the beautiful Marble Hill House in Richmond, hosted by English Heritage.

The workshop brought together volunteers and clients for a relaxing and creative day exploring the historic gardens and discovering new ways to connect with nature through mindfulness and art.

Hosted by Chloe Cook, Community Engagement Manager at English Heritage, and led by Harrison Hulatt, Senior Gardener at Marble Hill House, the session encouraged participants to slow down, observe their surroundings, and engage with the natural world in a more mindful way.

As part of the workshop, participants explored the gardens through a series of drawing and observation exercises designed to deepen their connection with nature.

One of the highlights of the day was a creative sun cyanotype (sun print) activity, where attendees collected flowers from the wildflower meadow and arranged them into unique designs. Using sunlight and a special photographic process, these botanical arrangements were transformed into beautiful blue-and-white prints, creating lasting memories of the day and the landscape around them.

The workshop was warmly received by everyone who attended, with volunteers and clients alike enjoying the opportunity to spend time outdoors, learn new skills, and experience the wellbeing benefits of creative engagement with nature.

Cyanotype artwork was a hit

We are also excited that Senior Gardener, Harrison Hulatt is keen to visit our Pensford Field site in Kew and support the conservation work being led by volunteer, Natasha Gudima from our Conservation Team.

We love collaborating with other organisations who share a commitment to nature, wellbeing, and community engagement. By connecting people with green spaces and inspiring them to engage with the natural environment in meaningful ways, we can help create positive experiences that support both mental wellbeing and environmental stewardship.

A huge thank you to Chloe, Harrison, and the team at English Heritage for creating such a welcoming and inspiring experience. We look forward to building on this partnership and sharing more opportunities with Marble Hill House and English Heritage in the future.
